Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell (June 21, 1921 – February 28, 2011[3]) was an American film actress, and was one of Hollywood's leading sex symbols in the 1940s and 1950s.
Russell moved from the Midwest to California, where she had her first film role in 1943 with The Outlaw. In 1947 Russell delved into music before returning to films. After starring in multiple films in the 1950s, Russell again returned to music while completing several other films in the 1960s. She starred in more than 20 films throughout her career. Russell married three times, adopted three children, and in 1955 founded the World Adoption International Fund. She received several accolades for her achievements in films, including having her hand- and footprints immortalized in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre, and having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. more....... |
Maureen Stapleton (June 21, 1925 – March 13, 2006) was an American actress in film, theater and television. She won an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, two Tony Awards and a British Academy Award. She was inducted into theAmerican Theatre Hall of Fame in 1981.
Stapleton made her Broadway debut in 1946 in The Playboy of the Western World. She went on to win two Tony Awards, winning Best Featured Actress in a Play for the original 1951 production of The Rose Tattoo and Best Lead Actress in a Play for the original 1970 production of The Gingerbread Lady. On screen, she received the first of four Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her debut film performance in Lonelyhearts (1958) and won an Emmy for the television film Among the Paths to Eden (1967). She also received Academy Award nominations for Airport (1970) andInteriors (1978), before winning for her performance as Emma Goldman in Reds (1981). In 1982, three years after her father's assassination, 29-year-old Benazir Bhutto became the chairperson of the PPP—a political party, making her the first woman in Pakistan to head a major political party. In 1988, she became the first woman to be elected as the head of an Islamic state's government; she also remains Pakistan's only female prime minister. Lalo Schifrin (born June 21, 1932)[1] is an Argentine pianist, composer, arranger and conductor. He is best known for his film and TV scores, such as the "Theme from Mission: Impossible". He has received four Grammy Awards and six Oscarnominations. Schifrin, associated with the jazz music genre, is also noted for work with Clint Eastwood in the late 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, particularly the Dirty Harry films.Schifrin was born Boris Claudio Schifrin in Buenos Aires to Jewish parents.[2] His father, Luis Schifrin, led the second violin section of the orchestra at the Teatro Colón for three decades.[1] At the age of six, Schifrin began a six-year course of study on piano with Enrique Barenboim, the father of the pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim. At age 16, Schifrin began studying piano with the Greek-Russian expatriate Andreas Karalis, former head of the Kiev Conservatory, and harmony with Argentine composer Juan Carlos Paz. During this time, Schifrin also became interested in jazz.
