E. G. Marshall (June 18, 1914 – August 24, 1998) was an American actor, best known for his television roles as the lawyer Lawrence Preston on The Defenders in the 1960s and as neurosurgeon David Craig on The Bold Ones: The New Doctors in the 1970s. Among his film roles he is perhaps best known as the unflappable, conscientious "Juror #4" inSidney Lumet's courtroom drama 12 Angry Men (1957).[1][2][3]Marshall was born Everett Eugene Grunz in Owatonna, Minnesota, the son of Hazel Irene (née Cobb; 1892–1975) and Charles G. Grunz (1882–1959). His paternal grandparents were German.[4] During his life, he chose not to reveal what "E. G." stood for, telling most people it stood for "Everybody's Guess".[5] According to the Social Security Death Index, even his Social Security card showed his full name as: "E G Marshall".[6] He attended both Carleton College and the University of Minnesota.

Jeanette Anna MacDonald (June 18, 1903 - January 14, 1965) was an American singer and actress best remembered for her musical films of the 1930s with Maurice Chevalier (The Love Parade, Love Me Tonight, The Merry Widow andOne Hour With You) and Nelson Eddy (Naughty Marietta, Rose-Marie, and Maytime). During the 1930s and 1940s she starred in 29 feature films, four nominated for Best Picture Oscars (The Love Parade, One Hour with You, Naughty Marietta and San Francisco), and recorded extensively, earning three gold records. She later appeared in opera, concerts, radio, and television. MacDonald was one of the most influential sopranos of the 20th century, introducing opera to movie-going audiences and inspiring a generation of singers.

Boone was born in Los Angeles, California, the middle child of Cecile (née Beckerman) and Kirk E. Boone, a well-to-do corporate lawyer.[1] His father was a descendant of a brother of frontiersmen Daniel Boone and Squire Boone.[2] His mother was Jewish, the daughter of immigrants from Russia.[2][3] Boone was a distant cousin of singer Pat Boone, his daughter Debbie Boone, and actor Randy Boone, who are direct descendants of Daniel Boone.[4] Boone graduated fromHoover High School in Glendale, California. He attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity, but left prior to graduation and tried his hand at oil-rigging, bartending, painting and writing before joining the United States Navy in 1941. Bud Collyer (June 18, 1908 – September 8, 1969) was an American radio actor/announcer who became one of the nation's first major television game show stars. He is best remembered for his work as the first host of the TV game showTo Tell the Truth, but he was also famous in the roles of Clark Kent and Superman on radio and in animated shorts.
Collyer was born Clayton Johnson Heermance, Jr. in New York City, to Clayton Johnson Heermance and Caroline Collyer. He originally sought a career in the law, attending Williams College where he was a member of Psi Upsilon fraternity,[1] and Fordham University law school.[2] Though he became a law clerk after his graduation, making as much in a month of radio as he did in a year of clerking convinced him to make broadcasting his career, changing his surname and becoming a familiar voice on all three major radio networks by 1940. more....... |
