Richard Marlin Perkins (March 28, 1905 – June 14, 1986) was an American zoologist best known as a host of thetelevision program Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom from 1963 to 1985 Perkins was born on March 28, 1905, in Carthage, Missouri, the youngest of three sons of Joseph Dudley Perkins and Mynta Mae (née Miller) Perkins. He attended public school there through eighth grade. In the fall of 1919, he enteredWentworth Military Academy. There Perkins demonstrated his fascination with snakes by keeping blue racer snakes in his room. Frank Lovejoy (March 28, 1912 – October 2, 1962) was an American actor in radio, film, and television. He is perhaps best remembered for appearing in the film noir The Hitch-Hiker and for starring in the radio drama Night Beat. He was born Frank Andrew Lovejoy Jr. in the Bronx, New York, but grew up in New Jersey. His father, Frank Lovejoy Sr., was a furniture salesman from Maine. His mother, Nora, was born in Massachusetts to Irish immigrant parents.[1]A successful radio actor, Lovejoy played Broadway Harry on the Gay Nineties Revue[2] and was heard on the 1930s crime drama series Gang Busters. Lovejoy was a narrator (during the first season) for the show This Is Your FBI.In radio soap operas, Lovejoy played Sam Foster in This Day Is Ours,[3] and he had the roles of Brad Forbes on Brave Tomorrow and Larry Halliday in Bright Horizon.[4] He also played the title character on the syndicated The Blue Beetleduring the 1940s, and starred in the later newspaper drama series Night Beat in the early 1950s and in episodes ofSuspense in the late 1950s. Dirk Bogarde was born Derek Jules Gaspard Ulric Niven van den Bogaerde in a nursing home at 12 Hemstal Road,[1] West Hampstead, London. He was baptised on 30 October at St. Mary's Church, Kilburn.[1]
Initially a matinée idol in such films as Doctor in the House (1954) and other Rank Organisation pictures, Bogarde later acted in art-house films such as Death in Venice (1971). In a second career, Bogarde wrote seven best-selling volumes of memoirs, six novels and a volume of collected journalism, mainly from his articles in The Daily Telegraph. He was the great-uncle of UK singer Birdy. Bogarde was the elder of two sons born to Ulric van den Bogaerde (1892–1972) and Margaret Niven (1898–1980). He had a younger sister, Elizabeth.Ulric was born in Perry Barr, Birmingham, of Flemish ancestry. He was Art Editor of The Times. Reba Nell McEntire (born March 28, 1955) is an American country music singer, songwriter and actress. She began her career in the music industry as a high school student singing in the Kiowa High School band,[1] on local radio shows with her siblings, and at rodeos. While a sophomore in college, she performed the National Anthem at the National Rodeo inOklahoma City and caught the attention of country artist Red Steagall. He brought her to Nashville, Tennessee, where she signed a contract with Mercury Records a year later in 1975. She released her first solo album in 1977 and released five additional studio albums under the label until 1983.Signing with MCA Nashville Records, McEntire took creative control over her second MCA album, My Kind of Country(1984), which had a more traditional country sound and produced two number one singles: "How Blue" and "Somebody Should Leave". The album brought her breakthrough success, bringing her a series of successful albums and number one singles in the 1980s and 1990s. McEntire has since released 26 studio albums, acquired 40 number one singles, 14 number one albums, and 28 albums have been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America.
