Richard Starkey,[2] MBE (born 7 July 1940), known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English drummer, singer, songwriter, and actor who gained worldwide fame as the drummer for the Beatles. On most of the band's albums, he sang lead vocals for one song, including "With a Little Help from My Friends", "Yellow Submarine" and their cover of "Act Naturally". He also wrote the Beatles' songs "Don't Pass Me By" and "Octopus's Garden", and is credited as a co-writer of others, such as "What Goes On" and "Flying".
Starr was twice afflicted by life-threatening illnesses during his childhood, and as a result of prolonged hospitalizations, fell behind scholastically. In 1955, he entered the workforce and briefly held a position with British Rail before securing an apprenticeship at a Liverpool equipment manufacturer. Soon afterwards, he became interested in the UK skiffle craze, developing a fervent admiration for the genre. Ezzard Mack Charles (July 7, 1921 – May 28, 1975) was an American professional boxer and former World Heavyweight Champion.
Charles defeated numerous Hall of Fame fighters in three different weight classes. He retired with a record of 93 wins, 25 losses and 1 draHe was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, but is commonly thought of as a Cincinnatian.[1] Charles graduated fromWoodward High School in Cincinnati where he was already becoming a well-known fighter.[2] Known as "The Cincinnati Cobra", Charles fought many notable opponents in both the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions, eventually winning a championship in the latter. Shelley Alexis Duvall (born July 7, 1949)[2] is an American actress, producer, writer, singer, and voice artist. She began her career in various Robert Altman films in the 1970s, including Brewster McCloud (1970), Thieves Like Us (1974),Nashville (1975), and 3 Women (1977), which won her the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress and a BAFTAnomination for Best Actress. Duvall had a supporting role in Annie Hall (1977) before starring in lead roles in Popeye(1980) and The Shining (1980).
Later, Duvall appeared in Time Bandits (1981), Frankenweenie (1984), and The Portrait of a Lady (1996). She is also an Emmy-nominated producer responsible for Faerie Tale Theatre and other child-friendly programming. Duvall's most recent performance was in Manna from Heaven (2002). more....... |
